What is Shareagift?

A fundraise service that helps you to Raise Cash, for causes, events or buy great gifts with friends! Invite your friends to a Shareagift Page for your occasion, share your comments, photos and stories, send a group greeting card, buy a group gift or collect money to crowd fund the event.

How it works

What can I use Shareagift for?

You can create a fundraise campaign Page for anything you like and invite your friends to chip in online. Once the funds are raised you just transfer the money to your paypal account.

What are the common Shareagift fundraisers?

You can use Shareagift to buy gifts with friends or collect funds for any occasion or cause including: birthdays, baby showers, office gifts, medical funds, college funds, projects, charities, weddings, even just helping out a friend in need.

Can I create a group Greeting card with page messages?

Yes! We're delighted to introduce this new service to create a 5x7 folded greeting card where you can select up to 24 messages of your page contributors. This can be sent by post either to you or directly to the recipient.

How do I promote my campaign page?

You can promote your campaign page using the following tools:
- Invite: use this feature to send invitation emails and keep track
- Share: post on social networks using the sharing buttons
- Email: send the link by email to your contacts
- Plugin: get the code and embed it on your website or blog

Is Shareagift free to use?

It's free to set up a Shareagift Page

You can create an account and start a Shareagift campaign for free.

There is a Shareagift admin fee when invitees contribute

There is a small contribution fee, which is 4.5% of the contribution amount.

PayPal and Admin Fees

PayPal charges to collect funds

If you're using Shareagift to collect funds into your PayPal account, PayPal charges a transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.35 / £0.20 / €0.20 per contribution. (So if you've raised $100 from 4 friends, you will receive $95.90)

Admin Fees

If you are contributing to a Shareagift campaign, then there is an admin fee, which is 4.5% of the value of the contribution made. This is added on top of your contribution.
For example if you make a £10 contribution to a page you will be charge 10.54p (inc VAT).


VAT is only applied to admin fees for contributions made in £ / €. VAT is currently 20%.

How do I verify my PayPal Account

Your Paypal account needs to be a verified account in order for you to collect funds. Essentially you need to add a credit/ debit card or a bank account to your Paypal account to verify your identity with them.

Targets & Deadlines

Can I change my deadline or target amount?

Yes. We allow you to set any deadline or target amount you choose, and you can login and change these at any time.

How long can I raise monies for?

You can go on collecting contributions for your friends as long as you like, however if you're collecting the funds into your PayPal account you must do this at least once every 90 days.

How long does it take to receive funds?

If you're collecting cash into your PayPal account, you should allow up to 48 hours to receive funds after you click the Collect Funds button on your Shareagift Page.

Are contributions automatically sent to my PayPal account?

No. When collecting funds, monies are sent only after verification so that we can keep everyone's contributions safe.

Countries & Currencies

Can I use Shareagift anywhere in the world?

Yes. You can use Shareagift to collect funds anywhere in the world. To date Shareagift has received contributions from friends in over 90 different countries across the globe!

What currencies can I use?

You can contribute towards a Shareagift Page in any currency. If you're collecting funds into your PayPal account you can choose to do this in either USD, GBP or EUR. Foreign currency contributions are changed to your chosen currency using PayPal's daily exchange rate.

Privacy & Security

Do you need a Facebook account to use Shareagift?

No you don't! You can invite your friends to chip in towards your group gift by email, Facebook or just by sharing the link to your Shareagift Page anywhere you like.

Do you need a PayPal account to use Shareagift?

You only need a PayPal account if you're collecting money as cash using Shareagift. You don't need a PayPal account to buy a group gift from our Store, or to make a contribution.

Are payments to Shareagift secure?

Absolutely. We use PayPal as our secure payment provider to ensure your transactions are always made safely and securely. We don't store any of your bank details

Are Shareagift Pages private?

You can choose in your Page settings whether to make your Shareagift Page private or public.

Are contribution amounts displayed on the page?

Contributions made to a Shareagift Page show the name of the contributor and their personal message, but not the amount paid. Only the organiser of the gift sees a list of how much their friends have contributed.

Group Greeting Card

What is the group Greeting card?

It's a printed 5x7 folded greeting card that you can add a greeting card to your campaign, and at the end you can customize it with everyone's messages and send it to the desired address.

How many messages can I include?

You can select and include up to 24 messages in the greeting card.

What is the Greeting Card price?

The greeting card costs $5.00/£5.00/€5.00 including postage. The card is payed separately from the page funds but when you add it to a page the target amount is increased to share the cost.

How do I add a Greeting Card to my page?

First you click the 'Greeting card' icon to add it to your page. Later, when you have the contributions and greeting Messages you click the button again to customize it and purchase.

what is the delivery time?

The estimated time is up to 19 days specially if the delivery address is outside the United States. In the US the delivery time is much faster.

Embedable website plugin

What is the website plugin?

It's a piece of code that you can easily generate from you campaign page and embed on your website or blog to help you driving more users to your campaign page.

How does it look like?

You can choose from 3 types of plugins that suit your needs or site style:
a) Mini-page: a pinned style card with a picture, campaign title, target amount and a 'Contribute' button
b) Badge: similar to a mini-page excluding the picture
c) Button: just a 'Contribute' button that leads to your campaign page, similar to a Donate button.

How do I generate the code?

Navigate to your campaign page and locate the 'Share this page icons'. Click the first icon with the code symbol '</>', select the plugin type, copy the code and embed it on your website

How to use the plugin code?

First get the code as explained above and copy it. On your website or blog edit the page or section where you want to display it, switch to 'HTML mode' and paste the code. If the website section or page is not editable from the Content Management System, you'll have to manually edit the page and add the code if you don't have the skills please contact your IT person.

Gift Aid donations

What is Gift Aid?

A scheme enabling charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated by a UK tax payer.

How do I enable gift aid?

When creating a new fundraiser you can set the page options to accept Gift Aid donations or changing the options for an existing campaign.

Can I claim Gift Aid from all campaign donations?

No. The donor has the options to Gift Aid it or not. Some donors may not qualify for Gift Aid.

How can I claim Gift Aid?

You can claim it using Gift Aid online.
